A very scientific calculation of good books vs. great books...

I read at least once a day, before I go to sleep, regardless of the day or hour. But in the hours outside of that designated reading time, I can calculate this:

The difference between a good book and a great book, as portrayed by my thought processes.

Good book:
I actually have some free time! What should I do with it? Is there anything good on TV? Anything I can do to get ahead on homework? Oh, I could read my book for awhile.

Great book:
I have a million things I need to do. There are NOT enough hours in the day. Gah gah gah. But I MUST find time to read this book!! *Ignores everything else and reads*

You've hit the nail on the head! I love to read a good book before I go to bed....I almost hate when I find a great book, because NOTHING else gets done!

I can get distracted even from a great book. Case in point: I couldn't put down Paper Towns for two days, then I stopped for a day because I had to deal with a million million other things which was followed by my birthday, and I have yet to pick it back up, despite being several days since.

I find, though, a great book I will not put down, even if I am exhausted or have a shotgun wound to the chest (okay I can't vouch for that last one). Otherwise good, I may stick my finger in the page and wander around for a bit, or decide I need sleep, or whatever.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I hate it when I don't mind putting down the book for other things.

I also feel I need that little bit of time just before falling asleep to read a book - good, great, or not.
